Re: Path edition: how to add direction handles to a path point?

You learn something new every day!!
I even wrote a feature request for that, mind you it was for a specific tool, not a menu item.

Re: Remove 4 color process for 5 color pdf

So if we back up a bit, the end goal is to get a print of the Pantone 286 separation out of a color printer in the (nearish) correct blue color. But only the Spot color, no CMYK. The easiest way I can think of is to convert the CMYK to white via color curves or mapping (so you get the knockout hole)...

Re: Autotrapping

Hi Angela, hope you are well. There is no trapping in PitStop, or many other applications for that matter. The only thing you can do it add overprint strokes, or maybe use some transparency. Regarding Action Lists, you might be able to do something with Black overprint, but beyond that it gets very ...

Re: Adobe Illustrator Stroke Alignment Correction

yep, see second post in the thread.

So the Action List would look something like.

Select Spot Color by name from list
'Select closed paths
AND
Log absence of selection.

Re: Adobe Illustrator Stroke Alignment Correction

Yep, it's not a stroke.
It's two paths defining a shape that is filled.
If you grab one of the paths and move it you will see what I mean (see screenshot)

What kind of edits are you hoping to make to this?

Re: Adobe Illustrator Stroke Alignment Correction

The issue is Pitstop is still actually detecting a stroke present for when it's either left or right-aligned. But when you open the pitstop inspector and select the stroke it shows it as filled.

Can you show the 'stroke' in the Inspector?

What you are selecting there is just the 'Select Line Art'

Re: Adobe Illustrator Stroke Alignment Correction

The problem here is that the PDF specification only allows strokes to be centred. That's probably why you are getting fills when you export them from Illustrator, there's no other way to create the correct shape otherwise when the PDF is created. I'm not sure that this can be detected or fixed. But ...

Re: Spot colors from imported color library not selectable

They are not Spot Color Swatches. If you import them into Indesign they look like this.
So they are just regular RGB colors but associated with a Swatch name.

Re: Split PDF to color separations

Hi Magnus The GWG Test Suite is not a good test for this. That file is built with special constructions, some of it hand coded. It's sole purpose is to test PDF/X-4 compatibility for rips and software, and identify any problem PDF constructions. It's useless for anything else. regards abc (GWG Techn...

Re: Maintain layers in Illustrator.

What he said, but a bit more understanding. When you save a PDF from Illustrator with the option to go back to illustrator you get a kind of hybrid PDF file. It actually has two files in it, the .ai file and the PDF. There is a little piece of code called 'PieceInfo' that ensures these two files are...

Re: Step and Repeat Action

It's an Action, not an Action List
So you would need to make an Action to use it.

I covered it a bit in the November PitStop workshop, so you might want to look at that.

Re: How to remove Form?

What you could try, and I would not normally say this but it might work in this case, is save the PDF as Postscript and re-distill it to PDF. Forms don't exist in postscript, and if you then save as a low PDF version, you might be able to eliminate them. I wouldn't suggest this normally, but as it's...

Re: page extraction loses ICC profile

You mean the profile is used as an Output Intent Robin?
BTW there is no 'page extraction' feature in PitStop, so could it be that's an Acrobat function?
