How to maintain or restablish connectivity from Switch to HP/Indigo press

We chased that problem for a long time. we finally ended up creating a share folder on the Switch Mac (with read/write permission for the Indigo), then making the Indigo Hotfolder in that share folder. Since the hotfolder is created by the Indigo we then had to adjust the permissions of the hotfolde...

HP SmartStream Flows

Do you need to install Smartstream on the Switch server or can the configurators be set up to give the job preferences before going to Smartstream?

assemble Job / every n jobs / name of jobs

tz8 wrote: is it just me or does the 'assemble job' element need some love from Enfocus? ;) Yes, it is a pretty confusing tool to set up. I use the "custom scheme" for assembly with the jobname proper minus the indexing characters for the job identifier. The part I really don't understand ...

merge pdf element

On one of my flows, I have up to 4 pages of the same job arriving into an "Assemble Job" element. I use the "Rename Job" elements on the pieces coming in to give them a -1,-2,-3 sequence number before they get to "Assemble Job". I have the luxury that they're all arrivi...

Create HTML E-mail Template

How do I go about creating an HTML E-mail template that I can fill in variable fields from a job's metadata? I've set up a flow to send files out to vendors for dies and such. It's easy to do a plain text one as far as I can see, but we'd like to format the letter a little nicer and put the company ...

Grab Directories from Folder after they are unchanged for a certain time

Thanks for the good info All. I was away for a week of much needed vacation. It may be a few days before I can try this out. I forwarded the info on the class to our superior to eschew.

Grab Directories from Folder after they are unchanged for a certain time

I'm trying to set up something on the lines of this, where after a set period of maybe 2 months, files will be automatically pulled from the folder at the end of a flow (where the unique name has been removed) and sent to the recycle. I have been doing this with an Apple Automator action triggered o...

Inject job with variable?

I took a different approach and figured out how to get my jobs into the repository or archive area by setting the hierarchy so the inject job just needs to look for a folder named "ABC65432_PRINT". Works like a charm!

Inject job with variable?

I want to inject a pdf job into a flow that contains the name of the DummyJob (ABC65432) and also has an (_CTP) at the end of the name before .pdf. The inject job is set up like: trigger - incoming job (this is a dummy job with xml metadata alongside) inject - job repository (/volumes/Macintosh HD 2...

Rename Tool in PowerSwitch - Can I do this?

That's working! and if I go and edit the string so that there's no separator, I don't get a row of ;;;;;; first. -[Stats.Colorants:Separator="",Case="upper,Search=[^;]*FOIL[^;]*"] so that adds to my filename: -X2299 COMBO FOIL Thanks Robert and Dwight Mike Oh yeah, I changed to u...

Rename Tool in PowerSwitch - Can I do this?

Hmmm. Thinking on what I said in that last post… It's a bit more convoluted but, If I split paths for each of the indexed colorants with the true or false arguments going into a rename tool on each path, (I'd probably only need 3 or 4 at this point in the flow) I could accomplish this. More Coffee!

Rename Tool in PowerSwitch - Can I do this?

Thanks Dwight, I'm not sure how to use that though. When I put it in the "search" field and update the variable like: [Stats.Colorants:Search="^[w]+"] It isolates the first word of each colorant in the list, so I'd still want to isolate and capture "foil x2299" from the...

Rename Tool in PowerSwitch - Can I do this?

In one of my flows, I'd like to add the "Die Number" after the the jobname. Conveniently, the design department names the color used for the die with the die number. Example: foil x2299 If I make a path to [Stats.Colorants] the colorants are indexed with semi-colon separators. (leftside ex...

Adobe Illustrator Javascript and Unique Name Prefixes

Thanks, I'll try that when I get a chance. I'm also trying the option of having our Design department save a layered pdf directly out of Illustrator. This keeps fonts and links more stable. Separating the layers to individual files is a bit tricky so far using pitstop actions.
