Re: Paste trim size after imposition of the size of orginal card

Padawan's method should work fine.
If you want to do it with Quite Hot Imposing, you can be creative and first rename your file/page to add dimensions, than use "Stick on Text" in Quite Hot Imposing and pull field "File Name Short".

I hope this helps

Re: replace xml values with switch values

Yes

Code: Select all

var newXMLcontent = oldXML.replace(oldValue1,newValue1).replace(oldValue2,newValue2);

Re: replace xml values with switch values

It works fine but limit is 3 values to replace for some reason.
If you add 4th, it stops working.

You could daisy chain and add script as many times as you want, times 3 values.

Re: Submit Hierarchy SubFolders

My recommendation if you want to learn how Hierarchy works in Switch is to watch excellent workshop from September 2017.
It explains in detail how it works, it is resource I refer to often when I am building something with hierarchy.

Re: Ink Coverage

If you want accuracy, you should get it from your workflow that generates plates. Workflows typically have printing/plating curves that will change amount of ink per separation, sometimes drastically compared to PDF. You might even run certain amount of GCR/UCR in your workflow which will drasticall...

Re: How do I preflight for an item with zero fill and is knockout (but the designer thinks has a fill)

As far as I can tell, in my test there is nothing wrong with either PDF and they rip same way they preview in Acrobat. Designer is correct in this case and your rip is either old/outdated or you have improper setting. Circles are part of the Transparency group that is not set to knockout. I hope thi...

Re: Switch Messaging Filters - User Feedback Required!

I use filters all the time. They are very helpful and messages would be almost useless without them. I also noticed that default 24 hours or so (can not remember exact default) is nowhere near enough, but if you retain logs for long time, filtering and viewing becomes really slow. I changed default ...

Re: Flow groups are not saved with restart Switch

Mine was under different path, "E:\Switch App Root\settings"
I happen to set Switch app root to E drive, perhaps that is the reason.

Re: Flow groups are not saved with restart Switch

I don't have suggestion, but can tell you that I had same behaviour on both 2017 and 2018.
It is not often, once in a while, usually if there is power outage or something so Switch does not exit cleanly, when it boots back up, it looses all groups.
I learned to live with it :)

Re: Best way to deal with Transparencies?

The only reason you would want to "deal" with transparency is if you don't have up to date modern PDF renderer that can handle transparency. In such case it is best to flatten it. Flattening can be tricky, depending on design and what was used to create it. Last resort would be to rasterize it. Depe...

Re: Switch 2018 and PitStop Server 2018

I am glad it helped, I run into same issue when upgraded while ago, it was big letdown until I figured it out.
Not sure why they changed it but I am not big fan of this change for sure.

Re: Open program (in my case Acrobat) always minimized

FInd replacements. Instead of Acrobat and Photoshop, you can use various command line tools that are way more friendly than Adobe apps, most of them are also open source and free. Adobe apps, other than prohibitively expensive server versions are meant for desktop user, have GUI and are not so good ...
