Archive version history and a defined number of versioned files

Hello everyone, I have two questions about storing files in a file system. 1. i am looking for a way to archive a "version history", where the newest file should keep the original file name. The functionality should therefore be the reverse of the "Duplicate - Add version number"...

Re: Building an archive structure by file names

Hi tdeschampsBluewest, thank you for this clever solution and especially for the explanation! Unfortunately, there is still an error (see screenshot). Because of the better readability I used only the "start folders", i.e. the first part of your formula. So the folders should be as follows...

Building an archive structure by file names

Hello all, I need some help with a switch task. I want to archive PSD-files in a structure based on the file names. The file name always consists of an 8-digit number. I.e. from 00000001.psd to 99999999.psd The archive folders should always contain a specified range of numbers. E.G.: 00000001-000019...

InDesign: Export all pages as PDF

Hello together, this is my issue: I always want to export an overall PDF from different InDesign files. If the InDesign file was saved formerly with a page range in the export dialog, the InDesign configurator accesses this page range when exporting. Is there a way to override this setting and alway...

Re: Script doesn't work in InDesign configurator

Thank you Freddy,
Your first hint helped me. It was enough to deactivate the line.
After that the script ran without problems in the switch workflow and performed the GREP search.

I will still watch the results to see if it stays error free.

Many thanks and best regards,
Peter

Re: Script doesn't work in InDesign configurator

Hi Padawan, thanks for your tip, but unfortunately it does not solve the problem. The script is executed by Switch without error message, but unfortunately without executing the Search+Change function. Unfortunately, I am at a loss here as to what the problem may be, because locally or manually star...

Script doesn't work in InDesign configurator

Hello together, I have another, hopefully easy to solve, problem. I have generated a script, using the wonderful ChainGREP script by Gregor Fellenz. https://www.indesignblog.com/2017/02/grep-ersetzungen-automatisieren/ (sorry, not in english) The ChainGREP script allows searches saved in InDesign to...

Action List "Internet Optimized": Meta data stream

Hello all, in the action list "Internet Optimized 2.0" the option "Remove meta data stream" is checked. This allows me to significantly reduce the file size of my PDFs. But what exactly is behind this "meta data stream"? What does this option remove from the PDF file? T...

Re: Individual time-out settings for every flow

The use case is two flows where the average processing time is very different. In flow 1: PDF generation from InDesign Due to the amount of data, the process can take longer than half an hour. In flow 2: Image conversion in Photoshop: A larger number of images are converted in Photoshop (by scripts ...

Individual time-out settings for every flow

Hi everybody,

is it possible to assign an individual time-out to a flow?
Or can a maximum processing time only be assigned for the entire server via the preferences?

If it is not possible, this would be a feature request for upcoming updates :-).

Thank you very much and best regards,
Peter Fischer

PDF layers from InDesign and Illustrator

Hello all, sorry, my question is partly a bit off-topic, but I have tried to find an explanation and have been unsuccessful so far. 1. Why are layers exported from InDesign to a PDF grouped under the file name? When we export a document of the same structure from Illustrator, the PDF layers are not ...

Description of system services

Hi together, Is there an overview or description of which Windows system services are installed with Switch or run during operation? Background is that we want to build a system monitoring and monitor if Switch is functional. There are some services where we don't know exactly what task they have: -...

Re: Create InDesign Package

Hello together, thanks for that great script. I have expanded it with the function to produce of an IDML. But there is still one naming problem which I can't solve. The target INDD-file inside the output folder still has the individual job-prefix of Switch (unique name). The "Strip unique name&...

How to quit an application (e.g. InDesign/Photoshop) after using in a flow

Hello everyone, is there the possibility to quit an Adobe application after a job has been completed? Examples are: a flow in which a PDF is created from InDesign or another flow in which an action is executed with Photoshop. In both cases, the programs remain open after the job is completed. Is it ...
