Somehow re-save/fix pdf file?

Post by RytisT »

Hello,

this one's a weird one. I'm using wordpress site to upload a file which later goes to Switch and PitStop server to fix and then goes to my mail.

Problem is, along the way, all specific Language letters messes up to squares and unrecognized characters when file goes through PitStop server, now, If I let that same file go through PitStop (not server), same action list, it's all good, if I just open the save submitted file and do "File > Save" it also works fine then, so I assume it's something to do with the fact that the file has been submitted from wordpress. Is there any way to re-save file without actually manually doing it? Just want to do the same that opening the file, doing "File > Save" does. Thanks.

Hi RytisT,

I guess that the font with the specific characters is installed on the system with pitstop and not on the system with pitstop-server.
If Wordpress doesn't embed the font in the PDF, then you need the font installed on the system where the file is processed.

Sounds like a font problem and that the fonts aren't embedded.

That was my first thought too, but all fonts are embedded.

Then it must be some kind of font encoding that is strange. Probably some encoding when the file is uploaded that screws up the font encoding. Do you have access to the PDF before it uploads and can test it that way?

Have you tried sending the file thru the Acrobat configurator with Save As set to PDF?

That being said, I think it is a good idea to report it to Enfocus Support. After investigation they might find a way to fix it with PitStop Server.

@Jan_suhr - Well, I can just take the file away from switch before pitstop server element.
I did look at it, couldn't find anything suspicious really.

If there's any difference, the text that gets screwed up is in PDF Form (the little window you enter things into).

@Padawan - Don't have configurator module :(

I did sent it to Enfocus Support, unfortunately I can't give them the file because once I save the file using "File > Save" it's sorta gets fixed and works fine from there.

I was thinking if you could get the file with out the Wordpress upload and see if it is OK then.

Yes, it's fine that way.

Then I would say that it is the Wordpress upload that creates the problem.

Send me an email and I'll show you something that can work for you.
