Spot color All has different alternate color values
Hi
I got such an error for a standard PDF/X-4 preflight on a file, but if I look in color information in report there are two spot colors with name All but both have alternate space as Grey.
Where is a difference?
Why it is an error?
What would be the best way to correct this error with action list?
ps. Pitstop version 2017!
regards
Juris

When you open the PDF preflight report, then there should be a button with an "i" letter before each entry in the preflight report. Clicking this button should open a webpage with more information on the error. Does it give useful information?
If you don't see the PDF report straight away when you preflight, then in the Enfocus Navigator, choose Actions, then Show Report.

You can either post the file here for us to look at or you could contact Enfocus support if you have a support contract

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
Hi Padawan,
This is how it is reported in Report:
Color Space Separation (Registration color)
Page 1
Name All
Alternate Space Gray
Color Space Separation (Registration color)
Page 1
Name All
Alternate Space Gray
I do not see difference, that why I'm asking?
Error says that color values are different, but Report shows only Alternate Space.
Where I can see alternate color values?

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
Hi Andrew,
I was surprised that this forum does not allow to attach .pdf files.
OK, I found it allows .zip. Unfortunately it's too large.
I've put it there: http://approval.jt.lv/index.php?id=2.pdf&lang=en
Yes I have support contract.

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
I don't have solution for you, however I have slightly different approach.
Your color "All" is only in crop marks.
Why bother checking for them, you can restrict your check to within Trim box only?
Just a thought.

Hi Zoranj,
Unfortunately I can not restrict. Preflight actually is running in Fuji XMF workflow witch have Pitstop Library 13 Update 1 and there are no Geomapper Technology yet.

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but Geomapper have nothing to do with it as far as I am aware.
Unfortunately I have only 2017 version but from what I remember, in Preflight profile for images, I have had it set to restrict to Trim box only, and this was before 2017 version.
I might be getting senile and not remembering, but check online manual for Pitstop 13, http://www.enfocus.com/manuals/Extra/Pr ... 3/home.htm

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
PitStop Pro seems to show alternate color values for spot colors based on cmyk, but not for spot colors based on gray. I think you better report this to Enfocus.
Can you try this?
- Open the PDF in Acrobat
- Create a new Action List
- Add the "Remap Spot Color" action
- In the "Spot color to remap" section, enable "Name" and type in "All" as name
This should remap all spot colors having "All" as name, no matter what their alternate color value
- In the "Remap to" section, enable "User Swatch" and click the load button
- The Color Picker should open up and it will have a category named "Document Spot Colors" which as the name suggests shows all the spot colors in the currently active document.
- Pick one of the spot colors named "All" in the "Document Spot Colors" section and apply
So this will make sure that all the spot colors having "All" as name are remapped to one of the spot colors which where in the file.
- Save the Action List and give it a name
- Run it on the file, you should only have one All spot color left.

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
I've logged this as a feature request, but it would be nice to have some contact details to tell you when it's done.
if anyone wants to drop me their details at andrewb@enfocus.com, I will add your names to the database.

Re: Spot color All has different alternate color values
I do not have Pitstop Pro, but try to do this in Pitsthop Server action lists.
When i remap Spot Color All i cannot use a User Swatch. What i can do is remap it to CMYK (all to100%)
But then the registration marks of other spot colors used are gone!
How to fix this when having CMYK and Spot colors where the registration color All has different values?
