It seems to be harder than I would have thought.

I would like to reduce the file size of a pdf that would be anything larger than 10 mb. I am also not proficient in scripting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try this. It's something I made for another customer.
It replicates the 'Save as Optimized PDF' from Acrobat.

There are some things you might want to configure like resolution and compression, and you want want to look at what it removes.
It just depends on what you want to use the result for.
