PDF layers from InDesign and Illustrator

Post by pfischer »

Hello all,
sorry, my question is partly a bit off-topic, but I have tried to find an explanation and have been unsuccessful so far.

1. Why are layers exported from InDesign to a PDF grouped under the file name? When we export a document of the same structure from Illustrator, the PDF layers are not "grouped". I know that layers in InDesign has a different definition than in PDF (layout layer vs. optional content = OCG).
Is it possible to ungroup the layers with an PitStop Pro action list?
Later we re-import this PDFs as graphic in InDesign and it's difficult to handle to activate/deactivate a layer via object layer options in InDesign.

2. Also, there is always a layers automatically created from InDesign called "Guides and Grids" (Screenshot in German). How can I disable this when exporting PDF from InDesign.
Actually we delete this layer with an PitStop action list.

PDF from Illustrator in Acrobat:

Thanks for any suggestions and explanations.

Hi,

I don't have a PitStop solution either.
But for the grouped layers there is a JavaScript "InDesign Fixups" for Adobe Acrobat that solves this problem.
