Check Job Essentials Project

Post by Michael Reiher »

Dear Connect customers,
As you may or may not know, Connect 2017 has a project in it called "Check Job Essentials". In this project, we've put together a nice little collection of checks and fixes that are the most essential for professional printing. This project checks:
  • Trim page size,
    Number of pages,
    Minimum image resolution,
    Missing fonts,
    Spot colors defined,
    Use of transparency,
and extremely small text and objets.
For the corrections available it will:
  • Add bleeds to any PDF (even MS Word PDFs),
    Convert RGB to CMYK,
    Convert spot colors to CMYK,
    Convert RGB Blacks to 100%K
Convert rich black text to all K,
    and Embed missing fonts.
Plus, this project will create PDFX-4 compatible PDFs from any application using the virtual printer.

What's best, is because it's a Connect project, you can go in and modify the settings to meet your requirements without a lot of work.

Keep in mind, this project may not solve all your issues, but it's designed to help you with the big show stoppers and give you quick access to common changes such as add bleeds. It's designed to be easy enough to use that CSRs with minimal training can use this project to check incoming jobs helping them communicate issues back to customers quicker.

Please let us know what you think of this project or things you'd like to see added. In the new year, I'll hold some webinars to help show you ways you can modify this project for your production needs.

Sincerely,
Michael
