Portal Check in for Errors

Is there anyway Portal can send error files back to check-in, a simple check like page count, if it errors it drops out to email, but the successful files flow through to check-jobs. Client services don't know why they are files missing, is there any way we can show these errors in check- jobs as rejections with an error message to alert client services of issue?
