Malformed pdf when processed with Pitstop Server but not Pitstop Pro

Post by JimmyHartington »

I have a pdf which I need to manipulate and add another pdf on top.

It works in Pitstop Pro.

But when the same actions are executed with Pitstop Server, then the pdf gets malformed.

This is the input file: https://d.pr/f/MXa6fo+
This is the pdf I place on top: https://d.pr/f/Z02MFd+
And this is the action-list: https://d.pr/f/oAFxip+

Here is the result from Pitstop Pro: https://d.pr/f/wkqgy8+
And this is the result from Pitstop Server: https://d.pr/f/sawRFN+

Has anybody experience something like this?

Hi Jimmy!

What do you mean by malformed?

If you referring to that the white text is not visible, maybe you could change order of the last two 'Add copied graphics' in the action?

There is an Enfocus app called Overlay PDF that maybe could help you otherwise.

When I open the pdf in Acrobat, I get a font error. This document is the only one where this happen out of 43 in a collection I need to process and merge.
This process happens with a lot of user submitted files, so I am looking for a way to find the files before processing.

The difficulties are that I can only seem to detect the error by opening the files, which is not an option. And the error only occurs in this case when processing the file with PitStop Server in Switch. But not with PitStop Pro.

I got an error in Acrobat Pro once I closed the PDF, when opening the file Acrobat just skipped to render the text without any warnings... that's why I did not see the error at first.

I have not seen this behaviour connected to Pitstop Server before, but I'm guessing that it stems from an error in the original file. I would probably try to re-fry the PDF somehow in Switch before running the Action.

Exactly. I would like to refry it, but to do it automatically based on when it happens. :)
Which is not always.

So I wondered if Pitstop could flag these files?

Maybe I need to report it to support.
