A path with a variable in it

Post by stencaers »

Is it possible to make a variable set with Pitstop Pro where I build a string with a fixed part and variable part?
For example /Volumes/Switch/Diecut/[diecutID].pdf
Where [diecutID] should be entered as a variable when starting the action?

To give you an idea what it should be for...
I'm creating a pit stop action where I overlay a diecut template on top of the pdf.
I'm using the PDF overlay tool built into pitstop to do this. I want to make the path to the overlay pdf variable.

I have tried all sorts of things but not seem to work.

Any ideas? Thanks!

In PitStop Pro this will not work as you expect. You also have PitStop Server, so if you are just testing in Pro, but the final use is going to be in Server anyhow, then use the "Overlay PDF" app.

You can inject the die file based on the ID from the file pool using a Switch variable for the dieshape, place it in a folder together with the input PDF using "Assemble job" and then use "Overlay PDF" to place the die file on top of the input PDF.

The solution is indeed originally built with switch and pitstop server, but we also want to be able to apply this via a fast way locally in acrobat...
Therefore the question ;-)

How many IDs do you have to play with?
