Submit a job in Switch Portal

Post by magnussandstrom »

When submitting a file to a submit point in Switch portal, is there a way to know that the file is fully uploaded? I just get a pop-up that says 'Completed' immediately, even if the file is 5GB and takes several minutes to reach the flow. An upload progressbar would be really nice. And also if the text could be changed from Completed to Uploaded or Submitted, because some portal users thinks that 'Completed' means that the job is processed and ready. Do anyone else have any input regarding this?

For me, when I start an upload it says 0%, and it never changes to any other percentage.
When the upload is done however, it changes to a checkmark.

I agree. A more precise progress bar is needed.
I could have sworn that the progress bar used to count from 0 to 100 before, but I'm not totally sure of that now.

Just to support the idea...
I tried an excessively large file set and I get no progress indicators or failure notifications, it just says complete but nothing happens.

Once an user with network issues 'uploaded' a file of 400MB. It said completed but wasn't uploaded, no logging, no error, no nothing.

+ 1 for a more precise progress bar :)

I'm having the same problems you guys described with my flows, reverted back to using hot folders instead.

We had an issue with files disappearing when uploading which weren't even that big. Turns out that the files were created on a Mac and had characters in the name which aren't allowed in a Windows environment (ie ? or <). If uploaded as single files, Switch removes the disallowed characters but if uploaded as a folder of files then the whole lot just vanishes. I logged this with Enfocus and apparently its a known bug/feature request as they put it.

You can try using Smash service and integrate their upload API in your portal. The the Smash app will pickup the file from Smash.
One of my customers use it and they can get ZIP-files that are between 8 and 10 Gb and it works without any problems moving it over to Switch flows
