Coil Binding: show where the punch will happen

Post by Gustavo »

Hi, I did not find any other posts connected to this topic. I hope that someone can help.

We get multipage files that will need to be coil bound. In order to make it clear to ourselves and our clients, I'd like to show a version of the PDF with a grayed-transluscent area that marks the "affected area" and little dots to indicate the punch. The aim is to prevent text or important objects to being coverd by the binding.

Odd pages would have that on the left, while even pages on the right. Can someone guide me as of how to get it done? Maybe it is already available as an action?
Thanks,

Hi Gustavo

I have 2 action lists which maybe you can use.
Add Wire-O (visual) Single page https://d.pr/f/yzIJgd
Add check for 8 mm at spine https://d.pr/f/zyEsAC

Jimmy,
Thanks so much for providing me with these two actions!
You can't imagine how helpful your support has been.
Thanks again and again.

Jimmy, do you know of any libraries where we can "browse" for actions that might have been created? Kind of a library or marketplace?

All the best

Hi,

We don't have such market place for PitStop Resources but that's a concept I am looking at.
Whoever is interested can contact me for keeping the discussion alive.

Hi Gustavo

Glad I could help.
As Loïc points out, there is no community driven repository of action lists.
So until something like that perhaps exist, the best way is perhaps to ask on this forum.

I have now made a Github page for some of my more generic action lists.
https://github.com/jimmyhartington/pitstop-actionlists

Feel free to download them to use or take inspiration from them for other action lists.
