Path aspect to the center

Post by schmitzdp »

Hello,

Is it possible to modify this path aspect with Pitstop, putting it outside, in the center or inside?

Image

My aim is to set the cutting lines to the center by default, because the overprint check doesn't work if they're outside or inside.

Thanks

Normally when any other setting than "align to center" is used, the path is outlined to a shape. The reason why is because there is no such things as Inside/Outside alignment in a PDF. So to preserve aspect, the path is transformed.

Ok, back at your question. Consequently, you cannot change those attributes. However, what you can do is to use the "Fill to Stroke" features. That will transform the shape back into a path. Of course, it won't be exactly right because of the outside/inside shift, but you can use the "offset path" feature to inset or offset the path.

If you want to make it automatic, it's obviously feasible but you would need to be sure about the stroke "weight".
