Re: Discourse
How would you value a move to an Enfocus ID to sign in to the forum? Should that be a priority?

Re: Discourse
In regards to spam it could be a good move. Either on here or on Discoursepietdepauw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:19 am How would you value a move to an Enfocus ID to sign in to the forum? Should that be a priority?

Great question, Piet.pietdepauw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:19 am How would you value a move to an Enfocus ID to sign in to the forum? Should that be a priority?
I’d say yes, it’s something worth exploring further not only for better spam control (thanks for that note too, Jimmy!). but also to create smoother access for customers who already use other Enfocus tools.
Could even improve participation if people don’t need to manage a separate account just to join the forum

And I like the ease of use.
Need a screenshot and you have it in the clipboard.
Just paste it.
Syntax highlighting of code based on the language (maybe needs to be setup by administrators).

The only thing I dislike is that sometimes a long thread gets harder to read if a lot of people reply. But that is the same here.
Hi Jimmy ,
Thanks again for jumping in!
Your experience with Discourse in other communities is super valuable. That paste-from-clipboard feature alone would be a huge win for our users—especially when sharing screenshots or walkthroughs.
Syntax highlighting is another great idea, particularly for scripting-heavy topics (and thanks for linking the config doc!).
And yes, totally hear you on the long-thread challenge. That’s one of those “no platform is perfect” reminders

Re: Discourse
Discourse also has an option to mark a post as a solution. Could make it easier for people to find the answer quickly.
If you plan to make login dependent on Enfocus ID, maybe consider the forum to be open for reading for people not logged in.
This could be a great for people researching Enfocus software to be able to see what clever solutions some have made.

Re: Discourse
I must conclude that my attempts to prevent spam have, yet again, failed miserably.
The Enfocus ID integration, as you have already put out correctly, won't be a differentiator between the 2 systems. Both are possible.
I've found phpbb plugins for syntax highlighting, ranks, trust, and also found a mobile theme. So there should be possibilities here too.
At the same time, there is a PHPBB migration tool made available by Discourse which I can also give a try. I have some time in 2 weeks from now, so I will give it a try then.

I agree to that. This is the case today as well.JimmyHartington wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 5:36 pm Discourse also has an option to mark a post as a solution. Could make it easier for people to find the answer quickly.
