Filename character limit Windows OS

Hello,

We are having the unfortunate case of Switch unable to work with long filenames for our ganged layout business card files. This is something that is absolutely preventing us from laying 12 or 24 up per sheet to benefit our production costs. If anybody has encountered this issue and has been able to work around this, please let us know as we already have a few ideas...however the ability to have the same character limit as the OS would be the best option, possibly a hotfix developed by Switch?

I had once a similar issue on the "desarchive tool".
Our choice was to relocate the subfolder, and shorten the hierarchy name.
