Page Orientation

Post by Robbie »

Im trying to make a action flow with page orientation.
I got a PDF file with Landscape and portrait pages. I want to select the landscape pages in the pdf and ad a extra borden with tekst on the left and right of the page. and on the portrait pages the extra border with text should go on top and bottom of the page.
Im trying with a select all and page orientation but i can not make it to work. it still does not select the right page it just does every page.

You don't say how you are selecting pages, but you need 'Select by Page Orientation' > Landscape
Attach your Action List if you get stuck

Robbie: I took the liberty to look at your action list and I think I understand what's going wrong for you.
Basically first you Select all and then Select pages by orientation, then in 01 Afmaskeren you again Select all. This means that everything in the pdf is selected, not just on the pages you selected in the beginning of the action list. The same thing happens in 02, 03, 04 and 05.
I modified your action list to be Select all, Select by page orientation Landscape and the added a NOT to deselect the landscape pages, then I added these two after every Select all in 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05. I then changed the second Select pages by orientation to Portrait and again added a NOT and inserted these two after every Select all in the second 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05.
I think this gives you the result you're looking for with one exception. The text on the landscape pages is not rotated correctly.
Perhaps Andrew can find something I missed?

By the way... I think you can delete the Select all, Select pages by orientation and NOT outside of the 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05 parts and still get the same result...

Thanks guys i just staring with pitstop so this is a great help. Im using pitstop pro 2017 and iff i import the fixed action im getting a warning that the action is made by a newer version and some items of the action wil be deleted. Mayby you can save the action in older 2017 version.

Unfortunately I cant save it as an older version, but what I did was to change the orientation in your Select pages by orientation from Portrait to Landscape and then add a NOT after that selection. i.e. the action list looks like this.

Select all (This selects all pages)
Select pages by orientation (Landscape instead of Portrait) (This selects all Landscape pages)
NOT (Removes Landscape pages from selection)

I did this everywhere where you have a Select all.

In the second repetition you select Portrait instead of Landscpe and do the same.

I hope it's ok I post a screenshot of the action list.

Hi Robbie.
It's funny it works with portrait and mixed pages, but not with landscape only.
I did however find a couple of things that I changed to make it work better.
In the second of the 05 text invoegen the first Select by page orientation it's set to Landscape, but should be Portrait.
In the Add object the offset is set to X=40 and Y=60, which means it's places outside of the page, hence not showing...
Then you Select last added object and follow that by a Rotate object which means the text is rotated as well.
Changing the Y offset to -3 and removing the Select last added object and Rotate object made the text appear.

Hi LasseThid,

Thanks for the support but still can not get it to work. I want to have the text (file information) on the short end's of the page (so with a portraid page it schould be on top and bottom, and with a landscape page on left and right side. there was a reason of putting the text outside the mediabox al together so it was there to copy it to the clipboard.
But still i can not get it to work.

Hi Robbie
Ok, let's take this stage by stage.
Can you try the attached Action List and Test file.
This increases the Media Box size by 20 mm as requested.
Can you test this and see if it does what you want.
You'll need to look at the Media and Trim Boxes.
The other boxes are not needed at the moment (if at all).

Once we get this part ok we can move onto the next part of the story.

Can you send me the actual PDF file that my Action List does not work on.
Then I can investigate the problem.
You can mail it to me at Andrewb@enfocus.com or maybe contact our support team if you have a maintenance contract. support@enfocus.com
