PitStop poor performance under VPN

Hi,
I work from home one day a week, and on those days I use a VPN (Cisco AnyConnect) to connect to our company's network. I've been noticing that Acrobat in general, and PitStop in particular, is slow to nonresponsive when I'm working from home. Finally I put two and two together and tried disconnecting the VPN, and now PitStop and Acrobat work like a charm.
Any idea why the VPN would be causing performance issues in PitStop? Anyone have experience with how to fix this? I need the VPN to access internal databases and services.
I'm on a PC running Acrobat Pro 2017.011.30079 and PitStop Pro 13 update 2 on Windows 7. And Sophos AntiVirus protection is in the mix somewhere, too.
Thanks,
Jay
