Is there anyway Portal can send error files back to check-in, a simple check like page count, if it errors it drops out to email, but the successful files flow through to check-jobs. Client services don't know why they are files missing, is there any way we can show these errors in check- jobs as rejections with an error message to alert client services of issue?

I'm not sure if I understand you right, but if I do, this could be a solution.

Send a copy of the error-file to another folder. Use that folder to ad an error message to the files private data. In the checkpoint create a metadata field that presents the message from private data as a read only field.

Thanks Terkelsen you gave me inspiration, I ended up adding a check-in instead of an error folder and using filters in check-in could view them as Errors.
