Hello,
Is anyone doing any batch processing to roll fed inkjet press? I'm looking for ideas, outside of purchasing SiteFlow.
Thanks!

If you don't get any response on here then you can contact me.
I can talk to our local resellers and see if they have any customers you could talk to.

Hi there, I know it's a 5 years old topic, but I'm wondering how did you solved this. I have the same thing, looking for a batching solution for HP PWP T250 press. I know there's a way to use <sequence> tag when submiting XML but I'm not sure how to generate XML based on info from multiple jobs.
I'm considering switching to JDF submission but as far I know, there is no configurator to use.

What would your typical batch job be?zurek wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 8:36 am Hi there, I know it's a 5 years old topic, but I'm wondering how did you solved this. We have a PageWide A2200. We basically have two paths, one that auto-processes upon approval/submission, the others go to a checkpoint. Both use JDF that pushes to the HP JST(Job Submission Tool) or directly to the HP DFE. The ones that I can't auto-processes due to too many unknowns upon submission I pushed them from a Switch checkpoint that has various options such as paper stock/profile, quantity, simplex/duplex, and a bunch of other press specific settings. Those selections build the JDF from private data and sends it to the HP so it's ready for the Operator.
We use a combination of Impostrip (mainly) and Phoenix (only for shape nesting) for imposition. I use a checkpoint that I wrote several scripts for that picks-up the hotfolders for each imposition templates as displays them as a dropdown list that sets everything for the Webpress layout requirements including some additional scrips that splits variable mailing jobs by tray to reduce hand touches and the end of the cut/stack line.
This has works wonders for us, prior we use either using the HP's products that didn't work well in switch, involved too much of a manual process or we would have to pay for something I knew we could do in switch.

Re: Batch processing to Press
I'm after making batches of saddle-stitched booklets. Typical batch would be: booklets of the same size (same roll width), on the same paper, same color profile, 4+4, same tumble settings, different quantity, ordered by finished booklet's thickness (number of pages).
This order must correspond with impositions sent to digital press where we print covers (if needed, self covering booklets are possible as well) - contents are covers are being matched by booklet maker using barcodes.
All impositions are being done in QI so imposed files are going to the press, no Impostrip or shape nesting needed.
