Release files from Checkpoint by date and time

I have a group of files being "held" in a Checkpoint until the date arrives that they can be released. Currently when the day arrives, someone logs in and submits them via the Switch Web portal. I would love to automate that. Is there a way to automatically release files in a Checkpoint based on a date stored in metadata?
