Inspector Disappeared / Can't Recover

Post by rgb2cmyk »

PitStop Pro v19, Update 1
Windows 10
Acrobat Pro DC v2022

Our inspector window seems to have disappeared, and we can't get it back. Keyboard shortcut doesn't work, it doesn't appear in the dropdown menu, and clicking on the PitStop tools doesn't bring it up (dead link). We've searched for solutions, tried re-installing software, and tried to delete Acrobat prefs, though we are not certain we accomplished that TBH.

Any thoughts? So frustrating, and not sure where to go from here. If deleting prefs is the answer - which we think it may be - can someone tell me exactly how to do so? We've followed online guides, and had to 'show' the folders to find AppData, but the files/folders don't always seem to be named the same, so we're not sure we did it correctly.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

For as long as I can remember, Windows has had occasional problems with application windows being drawn off-screen. If this is what you're experiencing then the inspector window is coming up, but you cannot see it because it's somewhere outside your monitor.

You can try the following:
* Try to bring up the inspector. It's important the inspector window (which, again, won't be visible) has the keyboard focus. This should be automatically the case if you don't touch anything after trying to bring it up.
* Press and hold alt, and press space. This brings up the window menu. You may or may not see it appear, depending on where it is drawn. If you see it appear on a _different_ window, that means the inspector didn't have keyboard focus - try shutting down Acrobat and doing it again.
* Press m. This is the shortcut for "move" in the window menu.
* Press any of the four arrow keys. This starts moving the window.
* Finally, move the mouse. Because the previous steps started moving the window, it should jump to the mouse position and move along with the mouse. The previous step (pressing an arrow key) is important to make this work.
Now you can just click anywhere to put the window in that place.
