Action List "Internet Optimized": Meta data stream

Post by pfischer »

Hello all,
in the action list "Internet Optimized 2.0" the option "Remove meta data stream" is checked.

This allows me to significantly reduce the file size of my PDFs. But what exactly is behind this "meta data stream"? What does this option remove from the PDF file?

Thanks for your feedback!

In principle any PDF dictionary object that represents an information resource can have a Metadata entry. In other words, metadata streams can be all over the document. The most obvious place and the most frequently used location is the metadata stream at the document level, aka XMP. I find it much more likely that it is the removal of PieceInfo that has the most effect. There is also the Action "Remove attachments" that can have quite a significant impact, of course only when the document contains attachments.
