Sequential Numbering Action List
Sequential Numbering Action List
Is there a a way of numbering a PDF File in Pitstop, as the attached file or is this more of a Switch thing.
I have tried various ways, but cant get it like the PDF. I can also do this in Quite Imposing

Seeems like a glitch removed my previous answer.

Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
I can add sequential numbers in 2 different ways in Pitstop. But cant work out how to add them to the odd pages only. Then on the odd pages they run in order.001 002 003 etc
So Page 1 will be 001
Page 3 will be 002
Page 5 will be 003
Page 7 will be 004
All even pages will have no numbering
So Page 1 will be 001
Page 3 will be 002
Page 5 will be 003
Page 7 will be 004
All even pages will have no numbering

I think if you add a 'select pages' before your numbering, using select all pages, odd, then add the numbering on selected pages it will get you what you are after.

Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
Yes I can confirm this works. Had to do the same thing a few weeks back.
Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
Thanks that works when its 1,2,3,4,5 etc. I couldnt get it to work when trying to add 001, 002, 003, 004 etc
Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
That I'm not sure you can do unless done via scripting unfortunately

Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
This is doable with the proper first action setup. Test the first step before proceeding with all the copies of that action otherwise you'll have to go through the hassle of fixing every action afterwards,
1 - Select page range. Each subsequent action will have an increasing odd page count. Example 1,3,5, ....
2 - Add Text. This is where testing is important for the placement of your page number.
Select your font and position and all other options. Example: 001
I group the action and name it accordingly but thats just the way I do it. Example: PG 001_01
See attached screen shots.
Duplicate it for the next page range, name it: PG 003_02
For the Action: Select page range > Page Range: increase of 2. (Increase by 2 for the next odd page)
For the Action: Add text > Text: increase by 1. Example 001 to 002
Run Action to see if all is setup correctly, the font and position.
If so duplicate the 2 actions and change the values again with the formula above.
Now you have 4 pages of actions. Repeat for 8 pages of actions and proceed until you get to the page count you desire.
So for a 100 page document you'll have to set parameters 50 times by just changing page range and adding text.
Should have the action done in an hour or so after initial setup.
Good luck.

Hi Guys,
It's great if our friend can eventually achieve this but we should provide some easier way maybe. Who would be interested in discussing what should be improved in numbering with PitStop. Any kind of numbering, not just page numbering.
Let me know

Re: Sequential Numbering Action List
If you had the ability to add leading zeros to the page numbers, or being able to set how we number as a variable, we could do this in a simple action I posed above.

Yes that's the easiest thing to do indeed.
My question was: what else
