Griffin Grouping Logic

Post by ErikProjectcolor »

Question about Griffin Auto:
I have read that Grouping based on an job-ID and to separate those groups by a line or a ID-code is not (yet) possible in Griffin, is there someone who has a valid solution for that. My opinion is that this is definitely a standard function that a tool like Griffin should have!
Thanks in advance.

There are many features a tool like Griffin should offer, but unfortunately, the product remains out of sync with what users truly need. It seems Tilia has deliberately restricted Griffin’s functionality to promote more sales of Phoenix.

I’ve shared this feedback with Enfocus whenever I’ve had the chance, but unfortunately, I don’t believe any major changes are likely to happen.

Examples:
Preserve page order integrity of a multi page PDF
Crop to imposed layout (instead of using the total substrate dimensions if it's not needed)
Grouping logic
An option to "fill the substrate" without specifying the quantity

Hello Magnus,
Thank you for your quick reply.

This is really a dealbreaker for us because we use grouping on specific created Order ID's a lot (on very large productions), saves a lot of time when sorting and packaging and it saves material.

In my opinion Phoenix is more a specialised tool and not the best fit for the standard Switch to Print workflow, so therefore no competition for Griffin in our kind of print company.

Yes grouping and page ordering is needed.
You can pre filter in Switch to group files accordingly before Griffin.
There's other work arounds to then group all the jobs in grouped order on 1 Griffin Gang.
