Fine Text on Dark Background

Hi Forum
Hope you can guide me
We have PDFs with heavy Ink coverage 280% - 320%, plus it prints on a 120gsm Paper
On top of that we some small text around 9pt but the Font is fine to start with
Basically I'm looking for PreFlighting that can check for Fine text on top of Heavy Ink?

You’ll probably need a custom Preflight profile for that, because most default checks only flag total ink coverage or minimum text size separately. The risky combination is small knockout text sitting on very heavy TAC backgrounds, especially on coated stock with fine fonts.

Ok, probably late but just in case it would still help someone. I believe this can be addressed at least in some ways.

The key Actions here are:
- Select by ink coverage (basic object check)
- Select overlapping objects.

So we want to target texts that "overlap" where ink coverage is more than X.

It won't cover all cases, yet one possibility is:

- Select by ink coverage (basic object check) > xxx%
- Select overlapping objects => replace selection with objects that overlap the current selection
- Select text segments
- AND
- Log selection

NOTICE: if overlapped objects are ICC tagged, they won't be selected.
NOTICE 2: won't apply if ink coverage is page based in that very case.
