If you have Switch you could use variables to either run different PPPs or to define which actions to run depending on the existence of a trimbox.

I don't think you need a separate ppp. Your question is truly, is the TrimBox defined.
That is the easiest part as PitStop can help here:

Now how to define the trimbox? Easy answer would be make it the same as Mediabox. But a bleedbox might be present. And trim marks can be found? So suddenly there is some more logic to take into account yet it's not very complex.
You could start by calling the default "Set Trim and Bleed Box to Marks" which would do nothing if such marks can't be found.
Then select pages without trim and set trim based on other page boxes.

With all of that combined, you can certainly have one preflight profile.
