Failed to Connect to Switch Server/Switch Designer lost connection

Post by shalavin »

Hi Everyone,

A few days after updating the Enfocus Switch client to 2024 Spring, I am running into the following error:

"Failed to connect to Switch Server: Switch Server is not running or the port specified for communication between Designer and Server is not correct".
Image

I've tried the following troubleshooting:
- Turn off Antivirus
- Reboot
- Delete "Switch Server" folder in "appdata/roaming/Enfocus" and restart, then re-open Switch.
- Re-imported Flows.
- Checked ports were open (although switch server and switch designer client are installed on same machine).

Server details:
- Enfocus Switch 2024 Spring client
- Windows Server 2019 version 1809 (OS build 17763.6293) 64-bit
- More than 50GB free on HDD
- VMWare hosted locally
- 32GB RAM, 8-core Intel Xeon 6314U CPU.

Even after the troubleshooting, I can open Enfocus Switch for a few minutes and adjust flows before the Enfocus Switch Client loses connection and I receive "Switch Designer has lost connection to Switch Server however Switch Server might still be processing files."

Further details:
- The Switch client briefly opened after pausing the AV (antivirus) and opening, then began to error again.
- Jobs seem to still process in the background and production is not affected, but this affects my ability to manipulate the workflows.
- Issue began occurring after server reboot, but no logs indicate a major Windows update (only definition updates).

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or could anyone suggest a solution? Thank you.

Reinstalling Switch 2024 as a clean install (following guide to remove all folders etc.) still results in the error.

Found that the cause is likely the Switch Watchdog service not running.
