I am attempting to recreate what you did and can't quite figure a few things out. In "reverse engineering" your action list, I was able to remap in the way that you explained. Remapping the Yellow channel to Spot channel then Spot channel to CMYK. However, things fall apart or unclear thereafter.
One difference in my approach in this may be contributing to the error is that I wanted to delete that yellow 40% screen and then add a new one at the end. The reason for this is that it was extending beyond the bleed box.

I did not see in your list how or where you applied the multiply to the Yellow 40% screen when it is placed on top.
I see that you did reply to Freddy with a different course of action with another action list, but I have not tried that yet.

After running my action list, I see that many pages are missing components, e.g., images, text, frames, etc., etc. This can be seen on pages 71, 83, 84, 85, etc. (page numbers in the phone book, not the PDF).
