Hidden files when saving to a network folder

Post by nnater »

Hi all

I think this topic has been discussed before in this forum but I could not find a definitive solution. We regularly experience the issue that files that get sent to a network arrive with the "hidden" tag and are therefore invisible to our macOS users. Sometimes, setting "Safe move" to "No" works, sometimes it does not. Sometimes changing it back to "Yes" fixes the issue. This seems like a preventable problem to me but I cannot find a way to fix this. Any ideas?

Have you tried closely monitoring the metadata (file attributes) while sending the file over the network? Could it be that some middleware (like a sync tool or file manager app) is adding an unwanted "hidden" flag? I'm wondering if there's a way to fix this permanently using a script or server-side permissions policy?
