Hello!
I have one flow in Switch to fix some small issues in some mostly text book files.
I am facing some problems in this flow.
All the files are from 3 different publishers, that are actually in the same group as our factory.
Their files are made in a cookie cut way, all of them are A4, the fonts are the same, the Indesign template is the same, the image bank is the same...
Yet, we still get some files that are strangely more "heavier" to process than others.
There are three files that I am reviewing right now that took longer than 2 hours to process in pitstop, in the Create Bleed Around Countour action.
I tried using X1A, changing the objects and image compressions to ZIP, but the only thing it does is change the file from 8mb to 100mb.
I'm trying to change the action to Add Bleed, instead of Add Bleed Around Countour right now, in hopes that this problem will diminish.
Other problem we are facing is related to ripping at the printers. We have a bunch of Oce Varioprint 6250 printers, they're pretty old and I know most of our problems are the machines fault, but the company doesn't have the money to invest in newer machines at the moment.
The most critical problem we are facing right now is some of these files not being able to load after they go through the preflight and corrections. The machines fail to load the file into it's Prismasync Controller, and the errors we get are related to insufficient memory. As it's not an error that happens with all the files, I couldn't convince management that the problem lies in the old equipment.
Could some kind soul help me with those problems? It's been years since we face them and I couldn't figure out how to solve it completely, just how to improve it a bit.
Here's the link to the pdf files, preflight profile and actions used:https://we.tl/t-Ik4Eg2lngF
Thanks in advance!
