Custom Date Action

Post by CEEZ »

Hi there! I've been working in Pitstop for about 4 years now but I was never allowed to learn it myself and make my own actions. But now I am at a new company and I can make my own actions and make things go faster for my staff.

We have one specific client that prefers their previews to have a custom "watermark" where it's just a bright red text with the month, day, and year on it (MMDDYY) from the day we're creating the product. Now I have finally made an action that sort of does it but it's using the Pitstop default %Date% and I tried making my own custom variable to pull from but I am not getting it done right at all. So I am hoping someone here can help me and teach me what to do. Assuming this is possible of course.

It does need to have REV before the date starts and it must read as REV MM.DD.YY

I've attached a sample of how it should look in Acrobat after running the action.

Thank you!!

Pro or Server?

If it is in Pro the only thing you can do is work with a Smart Preflight variable (not the internal PitStop variables). That will prompt you when you run the Action List and you type the text. Not nice, but it will work.

If it is in Server you can do the same thing, but then let Server fill in the text automatically. The way to do that would be to define a piece of private data on a folder:

Code: Select all

date=REV [Switch.Date:Format="dd.MM.yy",TimeZone="System"]
and then use the private data key "date" to fill in the value for the variable.
