Re: Count value of PDFs on top level of job folder

Using the app Filetypes Counter is the correct approach: it has a property "Subfolder levels". The default is "All", but it has the option "Root level only". There is even a "Custom" option that allows you to specify from what level to what level you want to count.

Re: Warning level connection for Illustrator element for missing fonts

You have 2 outgoing connections, one for Data (Success and Error) and one for Log (Success and Error). Make sure that both the Success and Error connections go to the same output connection (if the Error one is missing the job ends up in Problem jobs, you do not want that). The Data folder will have...

Re: Validating mailing data

There are two address validation tools for which there is a configurator in Switch: Accuzip and Firstlogic. Filter the flow elements with the keyword "mail" and you will find them. Right-click on the configurators in the Flow Elements pane and open the documentation. There you will find more informa...

Re: Feature request - Copy property values while flow is running

A heavily underused feature of Switch Designer (I think) is "Document flow"!!! IIt does not replace copy/paste but it is a useful complementary tool. For example you can do a text search so you can easily find all the instances where a certain value is used, etc.

Re: Adding variable QR-barcode (variable from xml pickup)

Change the "Type" of the variable from "Constant" to "Text with variables" and I am sure it will be clear from there on.

Re: HTTP request parameters

Are you using POST (you probably should)? Are you using MIME encoding (you probably should not)? I assume the JSON file you make with "Make JSON" is the input job: did you define "Attached file" as [Job.Path]? Is the web service expecting certain headers? The other requests are fine: how do those wo...

Re: HTTP request parameters

Based on the example request the API does not expect parameters, but a body with a JSON in it. There is an app "Make JSON" that can create a file with the JSON content using Switch variables and then you post that using "HTTP request".

Re: Identify InDesign Package folder

Switch recognizes Indesign packages as such, so you can simply filter job folders on the file type Indesign. An interesting app that I want to mention in this context is "Filetypes Counter" (it is part of the Folder apps). It creates private data tags with counters for the file type(s) you are inter...

Re: Using 2 different Switches for illustrator

Are you sure you set the folder constraints on the outgoing connections? Put the connections after Local and Remote on hold and place 5 input jobs in the input folder. The folders should each get 1 job and there should be 3 jobs waiting before "Hold job". Release one of the two connection and see wh...

Re: Using 2 different Switches for illustrator

There is no need to set a target folder and the second Hold job element is not necessary. This is the principle:

Re: API issues

When a checkpoint does not define metadata you do not have to specify the metadata field. In that sense it is optional. But when the checkpoint specifies metadata you have to fill it in. I could easily reproduce this using the Web Services documentation: it worked, then I added a field of metadata a...

That is not much to go by. Did you use :id in the call or the actual job ID as returned by the List jobs call?

Re: Loop XML with namespace is not working

The commented lines have to go back in. The problem is the fact that you have not taken into account nodes that use the default namespace. Remember these two principles when using XPaths: when an XML uses namespaces the XPaths must use namespaces for ALL nodes the default namespace in an XPath IS NO...
